Achieve a More Youthful Appearance with a Neck Lift
As we age, the skin loses its elasticity, tightness, and youthful contours and the neck is one of the first areas to show these telltale signs of aging. Dr. Dustin Heringer is a Fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) who has performed thousands of cosmetic surgeries during his career. He uses his diverse training in both reconstruction and aesthetics to perform fully customized neck lift surgeries for patients in the Scottsdale, AZ, area. During the procedure, he can remove excess skin and fat in your neck, chin, and jawline to give you a more youthful and chiseled appearance. To ensure your comfort, Dr. Heringer may also administer general anesthesia or intravenous (IV) sedation.
A Targeted Treatment for Striking Results
Patients who undergo a neck lift procedure can enjoy numerous benefits including:
- A thinner, more youthful appearance
- Strategically placed incisions for virtually no scarring
- Improved projection of their chin
Studies have found that undergoing a cosmetic procedure can also increase your self-esteem and self-confidence.
If you can pinpoint excess skin or fat tissue in your neck, chin, or jawline, you may be a good candidate for a neck lift.
When You Should Consider a Neck Lift
Although a neck lift is typically used to address signs of aging, it can also conceal loose skin left behind after massive weight loss and other concerns including:
- Skin that has been damaged by the wind or sun
- Large jowls
- A "turkey wattle"
- Excess skin or fat deposits in the neck area
In order to undergo a neck lift procedure, you should be in good general health and free from any serious medical conditions. You should also have realistic expectations about treatment and be able to take at least one week off from your routine activities to fully recover.
The Treatment Process
During your initial consultation, Dr. Heringer will take time to explain your sedation options to you. Depending on your unique situation and personal preferences, a neck lift can be performed under either general anesthesia or a lighter IV sedation option.
Based on your particular concerns and desired outcomes, Dr. Heringer may be able to perform liposuction on its own to remove excess fat in the neck area. If you have more extensive cosmetic concerns, he will create tiny incisions under the chin and behind the ear to excise fat deposits and excess skin. In some cases, Dr. Heringer may recontour the underlying muscle structure. He will then tighten and smooth the skin and close your incisions with stitches. For most patients, the entire procedure can be completed in two to three hours.
As a Fellow of the ASOPRS, Dr. Heringer is highly qualified to perform a variety of facial cosmetic procedures with excellent results.
Recovery Can Take Less Than One Month
Immediately following your surgery, you will need to take one to two weeks off of work to recover. The first few days will require plenty of bed rest. As with any surgical treatment, some patients experience bruising and swelling around the treatment site. Post-operative discomfort can be managed with prescription pain medication. Be sure to avoid strenuous activity for a few weeks after surgery and only resume your normal routine after you are cleared by Dr. Heringer. Once the initial healing period is over, results will continue to improve over time. With proper care, most patients can reach their desired outcomes in approximately six months.
